I agree, no player is worth that. It takes the focus away from the fact that it is a sport - a game, albeit competitive, and an nhl "job". You get thousands of fans cheering you, booing you, scoring goals, smashing heads and bodies, and plenty of chicks!!! Hey, as long as you pay the mortgage, thats enough right there!!!

Still, he aint as greedy as Federov yet - long way to go there...

I do kinda agree with paying him that much, lets face we wouldnt turn it down.
The way I see it is, its like the premiership, Gerrard the Liverpool captain gets about 120k a week, this is obviously an absurd amount, however it can be argued that his performances won us the champions league, thus earning the club 40 - 50 million extra, i.e 10 times the annual wage of Gerrard, thats when I believe it justified.

Crosby is very good, I agree with whirly that he cant take being hit, however he is quite good at still scoring whilst in mid air or on the ground, potentially he could be another mario.

Plus he is scoring a sh1t load of points, back to back 100 plus point seasons, sounds like theyve signed a couple of players to support him this year, may be an outside shot for the cup???

As far as the discussion about old time hockey goes, although I was never the most physical player, I would much rather play in a maurauders stlye game than what hockey has become over the last two years, I know its to encourage the flair players, but we have always had flair players, if you can play the game you learn to deal with hooking etc, and you very quickely learn to keep your head up or it gets taken off!!!!

Yeah, give me Marauders Hockey over the farce they now call British Hockey anyday.......... its boring, rubbish, and zt was only introduced to save Ash paperwork.

The likes of Andy Smith, Joe Johnstone, etc came through the old style - so whats it all about?? They're just trying to make our game more European - something Freddie Meredith tried 20 years ago! It didn't work!

Rats, you're right - no footballer is worth that! Especially those that can't win a World Cup!!
