Cool thanks Tim, how does the play offs work, I take it the champions automatically get promoted, who does the 2nd placed team play?

Bottom team in Div1 is automatically relegated.

Top team in Div2 is automatically promoted.

Second bottom in Div1 plays runner up in Div2 to determine which league they are each in next season.

Ice time might be a problem as they are playing for double bubble in some games already but I cannot see how the league can stop them if they are there on right, otherwise you shouldn't be allowed to have two teams.

The precedent was set last year when Lancashire Raptors and Blackburn Hawks were in the same league (N1 and N2 now).

The better question would be what would be the benefit?

If we have a 'Top' team in the Dynamos and a development team to help bring our 16-18yr olds in the Mustangs, the ideal would be, that if players are judged as a prospect but not the finished article, they will develop and get more Ice time in ENL2. If they improve and are good enough, they will get the chance with the Mos, or another ENL1 or who knows, an EPL team.

Results look like they will have the Mustangs finishing 3rd. For me, thats the best scenario. They've been competitive, they've won some good games, the youngsters are coming on well, more of the same next Year Laughing

as long as the youngsters coming through still continue to get the ice time then the benefit would be that they are getting valuable experience playing against higher quality opposition.
The downside would be that they would in all likehood, be getting a bit of a pasting and so may become demoralised.

agree with Swarb, that this season has been great and another one like it next season would be the best option.
maybe for another thread but maybe a question would be, who has shone enough for the Mustangs this year to warrent a place in the Mos next year?

I agree with Daz, Tom's game would benefit from training with the Mo's.

Also another youngster that has really stood out is erm, I think his name is Cake, Kevin Cake, he has impressed me as well, good hockey head for one so young, surely it cannot be long before he plays Mo's. Laughing Laughing

For myself i feel that the better players you play against and with the better it brings on your game!
it would be great if the mustangs could make it up in my opinion, would be such a confidence boost for alot of the players on the team!

First of all bring on sunday and lets take the 2 points away from chelmsford!

Not sure if I`m right but I thought I`d read somewhere that the ENL2 team which clinches the 2nd spot plays off against the ENL1 team who ends the season one off the bottom ?

If that is true the ENL2 team, whoever it turns out to be, will have a heck of a challenge in beating the very much improved Milton Keynes team, or, for that matter Peterborough or Cardiff.

I strongly suspect (if the above is correct) that only Chelmsford will make it into ENL1.

You might have read it a bit further up this thread, UD! Laughing

But I think you are right: MK are improving, as are Pboro. I can't see any D2 team beating Cardiff (although Chelmo might run them close).

On the other hand, it could still be the Skins that end up second bottom!

My dream match up for the promotion/relegation playoff is Mustangs vs Skins. Mustangs win over two legs but the Invicta organisation graciously concedes the place to allow Streatham to continue in D1 as we don't have ice time for two Invicta teams in D1 (and for all the other reasons).

I expect it'll be just a dream, though! Laughing
