Is there any chance of being able to hear more than 10% of the words this season at any time?

Its a weird one - I went to the gents downstairs during the London game (when they had the issue with the zamboni door) and I could hear every word clear as a bell from skate hire - it seems to be the seating areas that are the problem...

It's just a shame that that happens to be where most people are!!! Rolling Eyes

More seriously, when there was a fire alarm during a game last season the announcements to evacuate the building were similarly inaudible.

I can appreciate that in a large shed consisting of nothing but hard surfaces, a PA system is always going to be problematical - but surely something can be done to make announcements more audible to the people they are aimed at i.e those sitting in the stands?

I have have said time and time again, just turn the speakers round, its bouncing of the ice which jumbles up all the sounds. But they wont do it, coz it effectively ruins the discos. If this is the case, get 2 sets or upgrade the sounds systems. The speakers in use were updated, from when they used to be big yellow ones in the middle, and who remembers how they used to be? pretty good would'nt you say? (for their age). Its just goes to show how much of a difference it makes when they are facing you (when seated).

It wasn't even very good when Barry did it at the start of the season. It was years ago when Barry did it, it seemed fine then, it has just gone downhill fast

I remember the speakers being changed in about '91-'92. Not sure if they've been changed again since??

You can hear music fine when on the ice but I did a disco session and the DJ shouldn't have even wasted his breath talking as I couldn't hear a word he said.Turning the speakers round during the games wont make any difference at all. You just need to watch the games either from the cafe or the toilets!!!

Near the cafe or toilets? where the speakers are aiming towards you rather than away? This is what im getting at. The old system worked better when the speakers where in the middle and facing out. now they have them on the perimeter of the ice facing down and towards the ice, which creates the echo noise bouncing around before it gets to you. Even if they just unhooked them and planted them on the side of the walls so you are in front of them it would help as the sound will hit you first before any echo can be created. But, at the end of the day, the rink know its a problem and simply wont change it otherwise they would of by now. It could be done in a week and just need to purchase speaker extension leads to run from where they are now to the walls behind the stands. Come Silver Blades, your approach was quite successful at first, keep the punters happy!

Probably no consolation but the refurbished MK rink is excellent, with lots of money spent on it. Can you understand the announcements? No chance, he could of been saying that I had won a million on the 50/50, I would still have come home poor...
