According to THF it ended 4-3 to the Mustangs and was a good close game with Basingstoke scoring just after the buzzer!!
I am sure those who were there will give a better report soon!!

Nice one fellas!!

Spent a fair part of the game with the camera to my face so I won't be able to give a report but will post some photo's tomorrow.

Enjoyable game, well done Mustangs.

Jamie Smith and Matt Drake both made their debuts in what was a close game. Scorelines went, 0-1, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2, 3-2, 4-2, 4-3.

For me, our players were a lot better than theirs, but they played better as a team which made it close. We had too many players that wanted to take the man on and shoot all the time. Think we need to practice passing. Whenever we did pass it around we were far superior.

Good win though and another 4 points in the bag.

Really good to see Jamie making an immediate impact with his first shift resulting in a melee around the Basingstoke net. I think he is worth the entrance money on his own!

Yup think about sums it up. Outshot them by a huge margin, but nothing that got the goalie out of position, that happens when you move it quickly, which they did better to be fair. Think the result was right though, on posession and shots.

Though the young forward line looked better last night, they've worked hard so far but mostly just forecheck and backcheck, but they created some good chances for themselves last night.

Tough one at Gosport next week, who turned IOW over last night, presumably coz they're helped by playing on a daft little rink too Rolling Eyes Shocked Very Happy

I thought this was an entertaining game and a good result - excellent value for money at only 4 to get in. Even with the Mos having a local derby there could have been about 100 spectators there or possibly more - certainly more than many D1 or D2 teams get on a regular basis.

This was another game that went to the final whistle. The Mustangs had a goal washed out with 26 seconds left in the game, then Basingstoke nearly tied it from a face off with 4 secs to go but their final shot came just after the clock ran down.

Michal Mikel (so good they almost named him twice) had a Gordy Howe kind of game: two goals, an assist, and a fight (well, 2+2 for roughing!).

By the way, slight apology (although not strictly my fault!) for the PA again last night. A 'DJ' had been in there and the decks were all set wrong, the amps tripped out twice, Gary reset it once but it was a losing battle!! Once the amps trip it just all becomes a muffled 'blah blah blah' !

I did try to annunciate as best I could Laughing Shocked

That explains why I missed the first goal announcment until you "repeated" in the second period! Don't worry Scott we heard more than normal anyway despite the problems!

Not outstanding but decent, one good goal last night, but there are aspects that need a lil work, backcheck for starters. Sure it will come. Only his second game.
